Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said she thinks her Republican rival Donald Trump is a "fascist".
Harris answered a question on the subject asked by a viewer on CNN in the affirmative.
"Yes, I do," Harris said. "And I also think the people who know him best in that way should be trusted."
She was likely referring to former senior government officials who worked with Trump and described him as such. Among them are Trump's chief of staff John Kelly and General Mark Milley, who served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during Trump's presidency.
Trump, commenting on Harris's speech, said that his rival has a "twisted brain" and that she is increasingly "raising the temperature of her rhetoric," the US presidential candidate wrote on his social network Truth Social.
