Is raw vegan diet good and healthy for me?

Posted on Oct 22, 2024 / Health

A raw vegan diet can be a healthy and nutritionally adequate way of eating, as long as it is carefully planned to include a variety of nutrient-dense foods.

Raw vegan diets typically consist of unprocessed plant-based foods that are not cooked above 115°F (46°C). This type of diet can be high in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and sprouts, and may exclude animal products, grains, legumes, and processed foods.

While a raw vegan diet can provide a wide range of nutrients, it can also be low in certain nutrients that are more readily available from cooked or processed foods, such as protein, iron, and zinc. It is important for people following a raw vegan diet to be aware of these potential nutrient deficiencies and take steps to ensure that they are getting enough of these nutrients from their food choices.

It is also important to note that a raw vegan diet may not be suitable for everyone. Some people may find it difficult to stick to a raw vegan diet due to the time and effort required to prepare and plan meals, or may have difficulty digesting raw foods. It is always a good idea to speak with a healthcare provider or a registered dietitian before making any significant changes to your diet.
