Why is the British variant of COVID-19 much more dangerous?

The new British mutation of COVID-19 is almost twice as contagious as the regular variant of the virus.

It also causes heavier symptoms in younger population groups. Despite the fact that Pfizer vaccine seems to be effective against the new variant, more and more countries experience difficulties fighting this new mutation. In many European countries they lookdown is back for the third time since the pandemic began, as the virus tries to mutate and adapt itself to the vaccine.
