Will Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 stop the pandemic?

Pfizer claims its vaccine against COVID-19 is 95% efficient. The vaccination is due to start in the UK in December 2020. But this pandemic is still far from over.

The virus still spreads much faster than the vaccine supply grows. Tthere is still a need to keep those pandemic precautions and social distance measures to avoid getting infected with the virus. If the mass vaccination starts today, the effect of the new vaccine will be felt only in the middle next year. No matter how effective this new COVID-19 vaccine is, it will take at least a year to vaccinate enough people to stop the pandemic.
