Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is a Turkish politician and the leader of the main opposition party in Turkey, the Republican People's Party (CHP). He is the main competitor for the ruling Turkish president on 2023 presidential elections. Kılıçdaroğlu was born on December 17, 1948, in Nazimiye, Turkey.


Kılıçdaroğlu graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Ankara University and later earned a master's degree in finance. He began his career as a civil servant and served as a director-general at the Ministry of Finance before entering politics.

He was elected to the Turkish Parliament in 2002 as a member of the CHP and served as the party's spokesperson for economic affairs. In 2010, he was elected as the leader of the CHP and has led the party in three general elections since then.

Kılıçdaroğlu is known for his criticism of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on issues such as corruption, authoritarianism, and human rights violations. He has also advocated for greater transparency and accountability in government and has supported efforts to combat discrimination against minorities in Turkey.
